Making Medicare Simple

Medicare is always changing, and the choices can feel overwhelming. Every person’s needs are unique—there’s no one-size-fits-all plan. At Dabolt Insurance Agency, we work with trusted carriers to offer both Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans, as well as standalone Part D prescription drug coverage. Whether you’re just turning 65, already enrolled and looking to make a change, or under 65 with certain disabilities, we’ll guide you through the process step-by-step.

The Foundation: Medicare Parts A & B

Understanding Your Medicare Choices

Part A (Hospital Insurance)

Part A is your hospital coverage. It helps pay for inpatient hospital stays, skilled nursing facility care, hospice, and some home health services. Most people don’t pay a premium for Part A if they’ve worked and paid Medicare taxes long enough.

Part B (Medical Insurance)

Part B covers outpatient medical services—things like doctor visits, preventive care, lab work, medical equipment, and certain therapies. It comes with a monthly premium and usually covers about 80% of approved medical costs after you meet the annual deductible.

Add-Ons That Pair With Parts A & B

What You Might Need Alongside Original Medicare

Medicare Supplement (Medigap)

Medicare Supplement Insurance—often called Medigap—is offered by private insurance companies to help cover the costs Parts A and B don’t pay for, such as deductibles and co-pays. These plans are especially valuable if you want predictable costs and the freedom to see any provider who accepts Medicare. If you choose a Medigap plan, you’ll also need a separate Part D plan for prescription drug coverage.

Medicare Advantage (Part C)

Medicare Advantage Plans, also called Part C or “MA” plans, combine your Part A and Part B coverage—and often Part D—into one plan offered by a private insurance company approved by Medicare. Many also include extra benefits like vision, dental, hearing, or wellness programs. These plans may have network restrictions, co-pays, and coinsurance, but they can offer added convenience and potentially lower premiums.

Prescription Drug Coverage (Part D)

Whether paired with a Medigap policy or chosen as part of a Medicare Advantage plan, prescription drug coverage is essential. We’ll help you find a plan that covers your medications at the lowest cost possible.

Medicare Questions from Our Neighbors

Where do I begin?
  • Can you help me switch Medicare plans?

Yes. We’ll review your current coverage and help you decide if a change makes sense based on your doctors, prescriptions, and budget.

  • When can I enroll in Medicare?

Most people enroll at age 65 during their Initial Enrollment Period. There are also annual and special enrollment periods for making changes.

  • Do Medicare Advantage plans work everywhere?

They typically have network restrictions, but some offer nationwide emergency coverage. We’ll explain what’s included before you choose.

  • Do I need Part D if I have a Medicare Supplement?

Yes. Medigap policies do not include prescription drug coverage, so you’ll need a separate Part D plan.
